	Butterfly Princess Necklace & Earring Set  The butterfly princess is a common feature in many Native American legends and stories. She is similar to similar to mother earth in that she takes care of the earth and its balance. She is a harbinger of spring and its butterflies and flowers. This set features a hand sculpted Native American princess face with hand made porcelain murrini butterfly wings. She is hung on a Sterling Silver plated chain with a sterling silver S hook closure. The earrings are smaller versions of the butterfly wing murrini on Sterling silver bodies and are hung on sterling silver ear wires. Porcelain murrini are made by stacking together various shapes and sizes of various colors of porcelain into a log which is then sliced to create the wing shape and design you see here. This is similar to a polymer clay cane although more difficult, because the colors are more likely to be muddied and it does not stretch like a polymer cane. Plus it is constantly drying out. Also it is difficult to stretch as the colors will mix and muddy and slide out of the design if you try to stretch and shrink it much. Her face was sculpted with various colored porcelains. Then it was attached to the butterfly wings and fired to 2300F (1200C) She was then glazed with a matte glaze and fired again to 2300F (1200C) The details of her face (eyes, eyebrows, lips, cheeks) and the details on the feather and flowers were then painted with china paint and fired to around 750C This was repeated 3 times for depth and detail. 	Native American Bolo is meant to represent a 19th century American Indian Chief, showing the stern determination and calm resolve that was common in so many of their faces. It is meant to be a celebration of our proud heritage and a tribute to their resolve in the face of suffering.   The face is hand sculpted using colored porcelains then the details were china painted.  It is mounted on a hand finished teak base sealed with wax.  It is hung on a braided leather cord with sterling silver eagle tips. 	Ancient Visions This pendant is an ancient mound builder design which was found on numerous gorgets or pendants that were found in the mounds.  It is hand sculpted from red stoneware with copper inlay.  It has a glass cab accenting the eye design.  It is hung on an adjustable satin cord. 	This dainty Native American necklace features hand painted porcelain feathers separated by matte terracotta beads and e beads in turquoise and orange to coordinate with the feather colors. This necklace is just over 18 inches long with the feathers dangling another 1 1/2 inches at the center. The size of the delicate hand made porcelain featers are as follows: center feather 39mm (1.5 inches)long, next two on either side of center feather 35mm (1 3/8inches)long, last two 32mm (1 1/4inches) long. 	Head Necklace The focal for this necklace is a bead in the form of an ancient mound builder style head pot.  It was hand sculpted from stoneware, and incised.  It was kiln fired to cone5 for durability which removes the burnish. It was then pit fired creating the rich black color.  It has been finished with a wax finish.  The matching beads were also pit fired.  It is strung on a leather cord and has a lobster clasp closure.
